four classes of students from my elementary school participated in an exciting local event called terrace town. students built their own city and learned about city planning, sustainable design, and architecture. i was able to help them as their art consultant. on friday we went to the monona terrace, in madison, to show off our amazing city.
peace flags make me SO happy. my friend kristen bach makes peace flags from her extensive collection of fabric remnants. i have them hanging outside on my front porch, above my bed, and in my art room. they are bright and super lightweight; you can hang them anywhere. they are for sale in heretsy shop. kristen, a SUPREMELY gifted artist, works at r. wood studios in athens georgia...they have amazing dishes. kristen also has a beautiful blog that i check everyday for her amazing photos and little bits of the south.
the etsy site and blog also are created by and display the art of rebecca wood, owner of r. wood studios and rinne allen.
orangy porangy is having a sale! natalie, owner of orangy porangy, is a local madison artist who makes the most beautiful skirts. the fit...SO flattering. Check out her merch at www.orangyporangy.com.
today was the capitol kids easter hat parade; one of my favorite downtown events of the year. i was excited to have my friend edie and her two adorable daughters come out to parade with me.
madison makes me happy. there is something about living in a city you love on a beautiful spring day....
today i had the pleasure of having lunch with my friend marsha. we went to ha long bay on willy street in madison. they serve up the BEST pad thai ever! we took a little stroll by the yahara river and stopped in at my new favorite bakery, batch bakehouse (http://www.batchbakehouse.com). batch makes the most amazing peanut butter cookies, along with an ever changing selection of pastries, cookies, cakes, and breads.
i had a chance to visit capitol kids, my weekend/summer job and get a few gifts together for friends. i love capitol kids. if you live in madison and have kids, or you are fun, you need to stop in. this weekend we have our annual easter hat decorating extravaganza and parade around the capitol square. we'll have baby animals (the best part), music, and stilt walkers. i will be in the back helping all the kids make their hats. hat decorating starts at 10 am and the parade is at 12. i would love to see you!
